Visit the Tallest Building Nairobi Viewpoint. When I say that we always find things for you to do that you will not find out any other lists, I mean it! And this particular activity is an example of this.

When you go to Nairobi, you’ll obviously notice that the city has so many tall buildings, right?

There was a building that kept catching our eye every single time we drove anywhere in Nairobi. It stood out from everything around it because of its shape; tall, dome-like, almost bullet-shaped, and completely covered in reflective glass that made it look like a mirror against the sky. Every time we were on the expressway or driving between places, there it was. We kept noticing it and wondering what it was.

Eventually, a couple of days in, we decided to actually find out. We searched for the tallest accessible building in Nairobi and got two results. The first was a government building and not open to the public. The second was this one, and when we got there, we realised it was the exact same building we had been seeing and wondering about this whole time. We had no idea it was actually the most accessible tallest viewpoint in Nairobi, sitting at 37 floors.

Getting up there

Security is tight at the entrance, which makes sense. There are some other offices and things on the other floors. You essentially need to show that you’re going to the restaurant on the top floor, after which you’re given a pass and put through a scanner.

The building lift takes you up to a certain floor, but to reach the restaurant you need to access a second lift. Staff from the restaurant will be waiting at that floor to take your details and direct you into it. It sounds like a lot of steps but it moves quickly if you know what to do (which now, you do!). It also adds a bit more excitement, to be honest!

The view

The restaurant itself is circular, which means you can walk all the way around from one end to the other and get a full 360 degree view of Nairobi. Watching the city from up there, including all the traffic that never seems to stop, hits differently when you have that kind of vantage point. You can see everything. It’s the kind of view that makes you understand a city in a way that ground level never quite does.

To be completely honest, the food was very average and the prices were steeper than we’d have liked. We weren’t there at meal time so we just shared some fresh juice and had a little something to eat, which kept the cost manageable. If you go, we’d recommend doing the same. Go for the view, order something small, and enjoy the experience for what it is rather than treating it as a full dining destination.

Of course, this may depend on what you choose to eat. However, Nairobi has no lack of delicious dining spots, so I feel like you’d rather not waste your money unless something really catches your eye!
