The Galileo Open Air cinema experience is the one of the best ways to watch a movie with a view. They have various showtimes during the week, with 1 movie being played per day during the evenings, taking place across various locations in Cape Town. Booking is super easy through their website – all the viewing times are available with links to booking pages and other info.

We went to watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory recently at Kirstenbosch and had an absolutely splendid time. When buying a ticket, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐬, 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐰𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝 even when it’s not winter. The tickets with seats and a blanket will cost you R150 pp. Various vendors sell food, popcorn, sweets and drinks in the space too so you can grab dinner or a snack while enjoying a movie. You also have enough flexibility to bring a bag of your own food, blankets and anything else you need to enjoy the movie.
