Turkish Restaurant Cape Town: Some restaurants serve great food. Others create an experience that keeps people coming back. During our visit to Zeetan Cape Town, we discovered that they manage to do both exceptionally well. If you’d like to watch instead, click here.
We recently collaborated with the team to experience their menu and hospitality firsthand. By the end of the evening, we left impressed not only by the food but also by the atmosphere, service and attention to detail that make Zeetan feel like more than just another restaurant.
The Food at Zeetan Turkish Restaurant Cape Town
Let’s start with the food. For starters, we enjoyed the Sigara Boregi and Falafel before moving on to a feast of mains that included the Mixed Platter for One, Chicken Shawarma, Adana Kebab and Tawouk Pide.
To finish things off, the team kindly sent us home with some baklava because we were far too full to squeeze in dessert at the restaurant.
They say that we eat with our eyes and other senses before tasting the food, and every dish here arrived looking like it belonged on a cooking competition show. The plating was elegant without feeling overcomplicated, and there was clear attention paid to every detail.
The portions were equally impressive too! The Mixed Platter for One could easily have been shared between two people, making it a generous option for anyone wanting to sample a variety of flavours. In fact, we found most of the dishes to be larger than expected.
Of everything we tried, the Sigara Boregi was probably the biggest surprise. It was a dish we had never tasted before, and we quickly understood why the waiters recommend it so often. If you are visiting Zeetan for the first time, this is one item we would strongly encourage you to order.
The Mixed Platter was another highlight. When we order grilled food, we appreciate dishes that do not rely on extra sauces to create flavour. Zeetan’s meats were tender, well-seasoned and carried a delicious charcoal flavour that stood perfectly well on its own.
To accompany the meal, our waiter Issa recommended the Strawberry Daiquiri and Mango Daiquiri. Both were refreshing, flavourful and the perfect complement to the rich food. Before all of that, we were served complimentary Turkish tea, which is an excellent way to start the dining experience.
Although we were already full by the end of the meal, we eventually made our way to the baklava. It was easily one of the best baklavas we have tasted in Cape Town and left us wishing we had saved more room.
What truly elevated the evening, however, was the atmosphere. During our visit, another guest was celebrating her birthday, and we had the opportunity to watch how the Zeetan team handled the occasion.
Rather than offering a quick song and moving on, the staff went out of their way to make her feel celebrated and special. It was clear from her reaction that they had created a memorable moment, not just a meal.
Watching that interaction gave us a deeper appreciation for the restaurant. Good food is important, but genuine hospitality is often what people remember most!
If you are looking for a restaurant in Cape Town that combines flavourful Turkish cuisine, generous portions, excellent service and a lively atmosphere, Zeetan is well worth a visit. And if someone you love has a birthday coming up, it may just be one of the best places in Cape Town to celebrate it.
