Hands in the goo, hearts in sync ❤️If you’re on the hunt for a creative, hands-on date night idea in Cape Town, let us introduce you to something completely different: the 2Handsy experience.

Every Saturday afternoon, couples gather to create something unforgettable; a statue of their hands entwined together. It’s equal parts romantic, silly, sentimental, and yes… a little messy too. If you’d like to watch instead of read, click here.

What to Expect for this Date Night

Hosted by the vibrant Simba (shoutout to the best hype host!), the session is designed to help couples bond, laugh, and create together. It all kicks off with a quick icebreaker, just enough to get to know the other lovebirds in the room. Oh, by the way, some people came with their friends, others family members – so it’s really for anyone! Then comes a fun team game to get everyone laughing and loosened up. It’s light-hearted and sets the tone for what’s to come.

The Casting Process

Once you’ve warmed up, it’s time to focus on your partner and get into the good stuff; creating your hand mould. We quickly pulled out our phones to search for pose inspiration, trying to decide if we were going for cute, classic, or something dramatic. Once your pose is locked in, the hosts guide you through mixing up the moulding material, then it’s time to dip your hands in the gooey mix.

It only takes about 5 minutes to set, and then it’s hands out! After that, you’ll take a break for lunch while the mould sets fully.

The Final Touches

Once the mould is ready, you’ll get to clean, polish, and spray your statue. Choose between gold or bronze finishes (we’d love to see more colour options in future, just putting that out there! 😉).

The polishing part was honestly our favourite! Though we did get a bit too excited and accidentally broke our statue’s thumbs 😭 Still, the laughs were worth it.

You will get everything you need

Who’s it For?

This is a perfect date idea for couples who:

  • Want to try something different
