Cape Nature has simply outdone itself with the Goukamma Nature Reserve accommodation. We woke up in a cabin overlooking a river, and it was exactly the kind of peaceful escape we needed. You can watch what to expect here.

We fully switched off after staying here! One of our favourite ways to spend our hard-earned money is on experiences, and Cape Nature always makes this easier with their amazing specials every year.

Goukamma Nature Reserve accommodation

The best part? It had everything we could ask for. The cabin itself has a beautiful rustic wooden feel, with two master bedrooms that make it perfect for a small family or a group of friends. The lounge area has comfortable couches and, honestly, the view is something we could not get enough of.

We chose the cabin option that came with our own little bridge leading towards the river, and it was such a special touch. There is something incredibly calming about sitting there and just watching the water flow.

Since braais aren’t allowed at the accommodation, the cabins come with convenient gas braais instead. This was our first time using one, and we actually loved how easy it was to set up and how well it cooked our nyama 😍

But the best thing about this place is that it gives you permission to do absolutely nothing. After a busy or exhausting period, sometimes all you need is a quiet place where you can slow down, play some board games, read a book, and enjoy the surroundings.

If you are looking for something more active, there are also plenty of activities nearby. You can go fishing, or explore the different hiking trails available at Goukamma. The hikes range from shorter 3 km routes all the way to longer 16 km trails.

We did the hike, so read here about that experience! Located close to Knysna, Goukamma is the perfect escape when you need to reconnect with nature and reset.
