We don’t throw around bold food claims lightly. But after our recent visit to Hermanos Wynberg, we found ourselves asking an important question: Are these some of the best buffalo hot chicken tenders in Cape Town? Watch here.

Honestly, they might be.

Hermanos recently opened its Wynberg branch and, naturally, we couldn’t resist stopping by to see what all the hype was about. Since it was our first visit, we decided to order a variety of dishes so we could get a proper feel for the menu.

And let’s just say we left very, very full.

What We Ordered at Hermanos Wynberg

Our feast included:

  • 12-piece Chicken Tenders with Buffalo Hot Sauce
  • Nashville Hot Chicken Slider
  • Hot Honey Chicken Slider with Tater Tots
  • Chicken and Waffles
  • Mozzarella Dippers
  • Cookies and Cream Milkshake
  • Dulce de Leche Milkshake

It was the kind of order that makes neighbouring tables glance over and wonder if you’re feeding a family.

The star of the meal was undoubtedly the buffalo hot sauce. It delivers enough heat to keep things interesting without overwhelming the flavour of the chicken. Combined with the crispy chicken tenders, it creates the kind of comfort food that has you reaching for “just one more piece” until the basket is suddenly empty.

If you’re visiting Hermanos for the first time, the chicken tenders are where we’d suggest starting.

The chicken and waffles were another favourite. There’s something about the combination of crispy fried chicken and fluffy waffles that just works. Sweet, savoury and satisfying all at once. It’s one of those dishes that sounds unusual until you try it, and then you completely understand why people love it.

The Nashville Hot Chicken Slider brought a nice kick of spice, while the Hot Honey Chicken Slider balanced sweetness and heat surprisingly well. The mozzarella dippers made for a great side, especially if you’re sharing a meal with friends.

Then came the milkshakes. Both were delicious, but the Cookies and Cream Milkshake took the win for us. It had that rich Oreo-style flavour that we can never resist and was thick enough to feel like a proper dessert rather than just a drink. The Dulce de Leche option was also enjoyable, especially if you prefer something a little sweeter.

A Budget-Friendly Food Spot Worth Visiting

At Hermanos, you can enjoy a hearty meal without spending a fortune, making it a great option for a casual lunch, a quick dinner or a weekend treat with friends.

Sometimes you don’t need fancy plating or an elaborate dining experience. Sometimes you just want good fried chicken, a great sauce and a milkshake. Hermanos delivers exactly that.

If you’re planning a visit, our recommendation is simple: order the chicken tenders, get the buffalo hot sauce and thank us later.
