We have done a lot of kayaking in the past few years, but this one stands out because we did it at night! Watch night kayaking Cape Town here.
Starting at Battery Park at the V&A Waterfront, Kayak Adventures offers a kayak experience that sails through the canal when the sun is gone, the moon is glistening, and the stars are shining bright. The water is so serene, and it’s at a time when everything has quietened down, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Night kayaking Cape Town

You start, of course, with a bit of briefing where you are shown how to steer the kayak. Once done, you will be seated on the kayak — make sure that the person at the front is the one with stronger arms and can direct the kayak. Then you start sailing!
You will go all the way to the end where the canal meets the CTICC and then ride back. The guides will tell you about the properties along the way and their different prices, but we didn’t find that particularly interesting as it is more geared towards tourists. The experience itself, though, is worth it and gets a nod for being done at least once.
The shiny neon lights on the kayak and the beauty of the V&A Waterfront are sights to look out for during this excursion. It takes about 1.5 hours in total and costs R450 pp.
