About the Peregrine Farm Stall
We are convinced that bookstores have an invisible pull on us. Whether we are travelling, at a mall, or just deciding what to do on a slow day, a bookstore always ends up on the list. On one of our road trips back to Cape Town, we stopped at Liberty Books near the Peregrine Farm Stall on the N2. It turned out to be one of the most memorable bookstore finds along that route.
The space is warm and inviting from the moment you walk in. Large arched windows bring in natural light that fills the store, and the layout encourages you to slow down and browse. There are couches placed between the shelves, quiet corners to sit, and a built-in reading nook that makes it easy to settle in with a book. You can see it here!
Liberty Books has rows of books across different genres, spread across two floors. The upstairs section adds another layer of discovery, with even more variety to explore. It is the kind of place where you can easily lose track of time while browsing. They’ve got a separate kids section, too.
What we loved the most was the atmosphere. Many bookstores feel functional, some even depressing (if not for the books), but this one was designed for staying. It invites you to sit, read, and take your time rather than move quickly through the shelves. If we didn’t have to get back home, we would spend an entire day there without hesitation.

The only downside is that there is no branch closer to Cape Town. It would be a regular stop if there were. Until then, it remains a strong reason to plan a road trip along the N2!
