If you’ve never tried Vietnamese food in Cape Town, this is your sign! Especially if you’re looking for affordable, flavour-packed meals that are halaal-certified. We’re talking about Pho House in Claremont (just off Imam Haroon Road). Let’s just say… we’re already planning our next visit.

Discovering Vietnamese Cuisine

Pho House Vietnamese Restaurant is tucked away on the well-known Imam Haroon Road. This area is a favourite strip for locals in search of great eats. It’s a cosy space that’s easy to miss if you’re not looking for it. But once you step inside, you’re welcomed by warm hospitality and even warmer food.

What We Ordered (and Loved)

We couldn’t resist going all in during our visit. Here’s what we tried:

  • Sweet and sour chicken + prawn spring roll combo (R159)
  • Beef pho soup — perfect for winter
  • Dim sum starter — light and satisfying
  • Vietnamese iced coffee — energising, strong, and refreshing

We highly recommend trying these four dishes especially if it’s your first time. The rich, layered flavours are honestly quite addictive. The pho broth, in particular, felt extraordinary on a chilly winter evening.

Why We’ll Be Going Back for this Vietnamese Food in Cape Town

Beyond the fantastic food, several aspects stood out to us during our visit:

  1. Portion Sizes: We had leftovers that lasted us through extra meals. Value for money is truly exceptional here.
  2. Combo Deals: They offer combo deals that genuinely save you money. This is especially appreciated during these wallet-tight times.
  3. Top-Notch Service: Our waitress was fantastic! She guided us through the menu and helped us pick some of their most-loved dishes. Friendly, helpful, and efficient from start to finish.

Who’s This For?

Whether you’re looking for:

  • Halaal dining options in Cape Town
  • A unique date night spot
  • A budget-friendly foodie experience
  • Something warm and comforting during Cape Town’s rainy season,

Pho House ticks all the boxes.

A Unique Dining Experience

Pho House Vietnamese Food brings something fresh to the Cape Town foodie scene. With delicious dishes, cultural flair, and generous portions, it’s a solid choice for locals, students, families, or anyone craving something different but familiar.

Next time you’re on Imam Haroon Road, make sure to stop by Pho House. Your taste buds will undoubtedly thank you!
