The Chapman’s Peak hike is one of the most gorgeous hikes we have ever done. A trail that starts next to the Chapman’s Peak road and ascends across the mountain with the beautiful views of the endless ocean. Want to watch? Click here.
Being blessed with warm temperatures comes with its responsibilities in Cape Town. The most important of them is to hike our beautiful mountains and soak in the gorgeous views that we have been blessed with 😍
Very few hikes will give you the calm that this will, resetting your entire day and starting it just right. A total of 5 kms, it has a gradual climb of 2.5 kms and a similar level of decline, which should take you about 2-2.5 hours to complete.
Chapmans Peak Hike
We definitely recommend making space for an additional 30 mins to breathe in the scenery at the top and during the hike. The track is quite easy to follow, it’s basically follows a linear path after starting with very few deviations.

Since the climb is a wee bit steep, it’s suitable for people with a moderate level of fitness. Personally, I was so at peace during the entire hike that I went at a slow pace that suited me, while our friends group went ahead. After a certain point, you can see the ocean at every turn and it is stunning (and also almost impossible not to stop for pictures!)
The best part is that you don’t have to pay to enjoy these incredible views! When you reach the toll gates, ask for a day pass so that you don’t have to make any payment. There is a parking right there, and as always we recommend starting early not just to avoid the sun, but also to get parking.
