Most people who visit South Africa will automatically come to know about the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, ascending you to one of the most popular mountains in South Africa, the Table Mountain in Cape Town. But if you are keen to explore the hidden gems of South Africa, then the Harties Cableway located in Pretoria should definitely be in your lost as an unforgettable experience you will not want to ignore.

Harties Cableway

The swiss-engineered cableways transport you to significant heights to explore the peaks of Magaliesberg Mountains. At the top, mesmirisation sets in, as a recreational Island has been built with a walkway that showcases the views as far as Joburg CBD, the nearby Hartbeespoort Dam, and the many peaks and slopes of the mountain as far as the eyes can see. If you are a fan of history and love splendid views, the walk at the top is a must, as you come across placards that share details about what you are observing.

But that is not it. There is a skypark that has been built at the top for the adventure junkies to do an obstacle oriented course where you can zipline and jump hoops. A restaurant also sits nearby, with bean bags across so that you can sit, relax, enjoy the views while having a bite or two.

And finally, if we still haven’t convinced you, the cableway also offers an option for a couple open air experience up and down the cableway. But this one, our friends, is not for the faint hearted or the ones afraid of heights. The Harties cableway itself requires a muster of strength for those of us scared of heights but we promise its safe and worth it, as Aliasgher is also scared of heights.

We recommend booking out the entire day for this experience, and packing a few entertainment items such as games, books, and other fun things that you can take up the cableway with you. Tickets for adults (aged 14+) costs R350 and R220 for children (aged 4-14). Infants get a free pass with special discounts for Pensioners, Students and those celebration their birthdays.
