The Conscious Carnivores team invited us to experience their newly renovated space and sample their latest menu offerings. After two visits, we’re excited to share our thoughts! And if you haven’t already seen it, check out our previous post on why they remain a strong contender for Cape Town’s best burger! And if you’d like to watch our review of their non-burger menu, click here.

We found their new space cosy, posh and intimate. Even though there is less seating, the atmosphere now feels like you are part of a nice community while enjoying a meal together. The marble tables and velvet chairs transport you to a luxurious space that is warm and inviting.

We love trying out new menu items and when restaurants experiment with their menu/food options. So, when we visited for the first time, Saleha tried the Beef A La Creme and Aliasgher had the Nashville Chicken Tenders.

Its really hard to choose a winner between these two items because they were just wow! If we had to choose, then the Beef A La Creme just edges out the latter option but we would recommend that you try both, espeically if you are going as a pair or a group so that you can taste both dishes.

Despite being listed as starter options, the portions are comparable to a main meal so you will get your money’s worth. For drinks, we had the Watermelon Granita and Mango Smash mocktails; the watermelon had a lot of ice, which the waiter did mention but Saleha wanted to try it regardless – both options are refreshing though and highly recommended by us. To be honest, you can’t go wrong with mocktails at Conscious Carnivores.

Again, a special mention goes to their Spanish Latte for hands-down being our favourite cold coffee in Cape Town. The balance striked between coffee, milk and cold ice, is just perfect to not dilute it and giving you the perfect caffeine dose. Oh, and their takeaway mug is lekker, it has a spout cover that clips back into another slot while you drink the coffee. Design and taste; perfect combo!
